Why do people claim Ahmadinejad said Israel should be "wiped of the map" - Are they deliberately misleading us?

No I heard him say that in his voice, on a podium in Iran that was broadcast around the world, word for word that was said. As Hitler said it happened too, Czechoslovakia is no more, split in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Anyone who says anyone else should vanish from time, or wiped off the map, can't be a good person, just saying...... And isn't Islam supposed to be all peace and help your neighbor? How come none of the muslim leaders echo that sentiment??? Must be that Islam is not the religion they claim it to be? But then every religion is crap if you ask me, and all religions should "vanish from the page of time"
