AP Language and Composition....?

I am thinking about taking this cl next year but I have a few concerns. Writing for me is no problem at all and I am confident in my writing. Where I fall short is reading and comprehension so is there a lot of reading in this cl? With all my other work (aps) I will find in painful to have to read a billion novels and then find all the metaphors and messages in them. Mainly I am just looking to write ( I understand I will have to read some essays). Also I am a little weak with grammatical and spelling issues and they would mainly be the only reason I would get anything less than an A on a paper.
